Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 July 2026
Newsy ("the app", "we") is a news reader that shows headlines, short summaries and
thumbnails from third-party publishers and links to the original articles. This policy
explains what data is processed when you use Newsy for iOS.
Data we collect
Newsy has no accounts and no sign-in. We do not collect your name, email or
contacts. The app processes the following data:
- Usage analytics (Google Firebase Analytics): anonymous events such as screens
viewed, feature usage, app version, device model, OS version, coarse locale. Used to
understand and improve the product.
- Crash data (Firebase Crashlytics): crash stack traces and device state at the
moment of a crash. Used to fix bugs.
- Push token (Firebase Cloud Messaging): an anonymous device token used to deliver
breaking-news notifications you opt into. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS
Settings.
- Advertising data (Google AdMob, free tier only): ad impressions and, only if
you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt, the device advertising
identifier (IDFA) for personalised ads. If you decline, ads are contextual only. Premium
subscribers see no ads.
- Purchase state: subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your
payment details. The app stores an anonymous flag of your subscription status.
Data stored only on your device
Your preferences (interface language, news languages, topics), saved articles, reading
interests used for the "For You" feed, and voice-over settings are stored locally on your
device and are not uploaded to us.
Third parties
- Google (Firebase, AdMob) — analytics, crash reporting, push, ads.
See Google Privacy Policy.
- Apple — App Store purchases and subscriptions.
See Apple Privacy Policy.
- Publishers — article pages and images load directly from the original publishers'
websites; their own policies apply there.
Data retention & your rights
Analytics and crash data are retained by Google per Firebase defaults and are not tied to
your identity by us. You can reset the advertising identifier or withdraw tracking consent in
iOS Settings → Privacy. For any privacy request, contact us at the address below.
Children
Newsy is a general-audience news app and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy; the current version is always available at this address.
